Sense at last

Sunday, May 16th, 2004

It has been a while, but reading through that highly respected and world renowned newspaper “The Mail on Sunday” I have come across an article that talks a fair amount of sense. Suzanne Moore has spoken, and she has spoken truly!

“So do you still think mother knows best?”. I have to ask the extended question “Why do mothers always think they know best?”. Why do so many people take the attitude that a teenage girl is not in a position to decide anything about her future? I admit in some areas she may not be best placed to do so, but is forcing her to bring up a child (as many mothers, desperate to stop their daughters having a baby would attempt to do) really the best thing for her in any way? Surely talking to someone who is not biased in the matter, and not having to talk to her parents would be much better for everyone on the whole?

Removing the respect for children is not going to be a great way to reduce the rate of pregnancies and abortions, instead they’ll go black-street.

Unfortunately the mother in the case of the recent 14-year old seems to be taking great pains in harming her daughter… though I’m sure this was not her original intention. A lesson in that is surely to take great care to not overreact to your childrens behaviour, and to consider your own reactionary actions wisely.

MS C Compiler

Yay, a pointless geeky entry. Does it really have to explicitly NOT support half the useful options in the C standards? Vararg macros anyone?

Ok, enough of the geekiness.

Birthdays

Monday, May 3rd, 2004

Argh, argh argh. So I made a mistake! Her birthday isn’t wednesday at all!

Blast.

In my defence I blame US/UK date format differences…

Ok, I know that’s just an excuse.

So damn again! I’ll probably permanently remember the wrong date now too, have to unremember that it’s also my grandmother’s birthday.

Damn again.
